In 1980 I wintered-over at the South Pole, serving as Meteorologist-in-charge. From 1981-1986 I returned to the Ice in the summer seasons to assist in the deployment of Automatic Weather Stations as part of an ongoing program undertaken by the University of Wisconsin.
