Harper Pass

Home | Page Title

We followed the Harper Pass Track from Windy Point, up the Hope River, across the Kiwi Saddle and up the Huruni River in three days, covering about 30 miles. Our planned return along the same route was blocked by the rising level of Three Mile Stream ( the swingbridge there having been destroyed a year ago and yet to be replaced). So we backtracked to the Hurunui Hut and went out the 4 wheel drive track leading past Lake Sumner. Good luck hitchhiking brought us out the 30 km gravel road to Highway 7.
